The New England Patriots are reportedly signing three-time First-Team All-Pro safety Kevin Byard to a one-year, $9 million deal, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Wednesday.
Byard spent multiple seasons working with Patriots coach Mike Vrabel during their time together with the Tennessee Titans. So it’ll be a reunion between coach and player. As for the Patriots, they’ll be getting one of the best safeties in the NFL over the last decade.

Byard is a proven playmaker who led the NFL in interceptions last season, despite being 32 years old. The former Chicago Bear will step into the role left by Jaylinn Hawkins, who is still looking for a new home on the free agent market.
